B.A. (Honours) Journalism And Mass Communication (Semester Pattern)
Three-Year (Six-semester) Full-Time Programme
Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication is a three-year programme that teaches students about all the different parts of media and how they work together. Students learn about the basic ideas behind media, its history, and its legal and moral responsibilities. They also learn how to organise news, make headlines, and make the paper’s layout. Students learn about the laws about the media, the constitution, and other laws that a journalist needs to know in order to do their job. Aside from that, the programme also helps students develop their creative sides by teaching them things like photography, filmmaking, editing, and other ways to tell stories visually, such as screenwriting and story boarding. Students who want to learn more about advertising and public relations can learn about the history and theories of those fields. The students are also taught things like Development Communication, Visual Communication, and Media Research.
Also, the programme not only helps students learn skills related to media, but it also gives them a better understanding of how media has changed over time and how it works as a whole.
The Department organises outdoor photography walks, educational trips, screenings of movies followed by discussions, improvised sessions with experts in the field, and other extracurricular activities that help students make more friends.
Aside from that, students are involved in different ways with different groups, such as the media fraternity, cultural groups, regional artists, film stars, award-winning athletes, and reformers.
